The Road to the Isles

  • The Road to the Isles is a collection of images taken along the route described in the traditional song of the same name.

It begins in Highland Perthshire at Tummel Bridge and continues westwards to the coast at Mallaig and the Hebridean islands beyond.

It is a 150km journey across ancient cattle drove tracks, 300 year old military roads, footpaths and modern highways.

Spanning the very best of Scotland’s scenery from desolate moorland, high mountain passes, tranquil lochs and unspoiled beaches, it encompasses some of the country’s most iconic locations including Loch Rannoch, Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan viaduct, Morar’s silver sands and much, much more.

It is a route steeped in history and legend, a path trodden by artists, princes, outlaws and one very famous modern-day boy wizard.
